About us

The Centre for Political Analysis (CPA) is an academic and research unit of the Faculty of Political, Administrative and Communication Sciences from “Babeş-Bolyai” University (UBB). The Centre has been created for the development and promotion of political analysis in various sub-domains of Political Science – from Political Theory to Public Policy and current political events. CPA develops and promotes conceptual-theoretical and empirical-factual analyses, using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods.

The Centre for Political Analysis is an independent non-partisan and apolitical academic and research institution. The activity of the Centre is primarily focused on research and concrete political analysis, but it includes academic activities as well: establishing MA and PhD programs, providing postgraduate courses in political analysis and developing relevant connections with the decision-making and political environment, the cultural sphere and media. The CPA aims to provide political analyses concerning major issues of interest for these structures.

General Description of CPA Activities

The Centre for Political Analysis will publish books on political analysis (e.g.: individual and collective studies, methodological guides, manuals etc.). The Centre will also restart the publication of the two journals: EAST and EUROPOLIS published in English.
The Centre will organize conferences, workshops, symposiums, seminars and every two years it will organize an international conference.
The Centre may establish master and doctoral programs in the field of Political Analysis.

CPA Members

The Centre for Political Analysis has two categories of members: Honorary members, and Full members. The Honorary members are local and foreign renowned researchers in the field of political analysis. Full members are specialists in political science from the Political Science Department or other departments of UBB or other institutions, and UBB alumni who were or are currently enrolled in Master or Doctoral programs. The prerequisite for membership is exclusively the performance in the field of political analysis. The CPA is open to new members from Romania or from abroad.

CPA Leadership

The leadership of the Centre is carried by a board made of five personalities, which will have periodical meetings to debate and decide Centre’s general strategy on medium and long term.
Centre’s executive activity is carried by a team that includes the Coordinating Director and the three Directors responsible with publications, Centre’s relations and grants.
For the moment, the executive leadership has the following componence:
